Application & Installation
Where it is used
The strand splice is a preformed helical fitting that joins two lengths of guy strand end to end, restoring full strand strength across the joint. It is used to repair a damaged guy or to extend a strand that has come up short — applied by hand with no sleeves or compression tooling.
Installation sequence
- Select the colour-coded splice for the strand size.
- Align the two strand ends to the splice centre mark.
- Wrap the first half of the splice onto one strand end.
- Wrap the second half onto the other end.
- Snap the legs home so the helix fully grips both ends.
Buyer’s Guide: Strand Splice
1. What a Strand Splice Does
A strand splice joins two guy-strand ends into one continuous strand at full strength. Its helical legs wrap onto each end and grip by distributed tension, so the spliced strand is as strong as an unbroken one — no sleeve, no press.
2. Full Strength Across the Joint
Correctly matched, the splice holds 100% of the strand RBS. Because it is the same material as the strand and grips over a long helical length, the joint is not a weak point in the guy.
3. When to Splice
Use it to repair a guy damaged by corrosion or impact, or to extend a strand that is too short to reach the anchor. It saves replacing a full strand run for a localised problem.
4. Colour Coding
Each splice is colour-coded to the strand size. Match the colour so both halves wrap and grip correctly; a mismatched splice will not develop full strength.
5. Tool-Free Application
Like all preformed fittings it applies by hand — no compression sleeve or die. Single-use: do not re-apply a removed splice.
6. Where It Fits
In any guy run that needs joining or repair. Order with matching guy grips and thimbles if the repair also renews the dead-end.
