Where it is used

The transformer lead pin supports the insulated lead that runs from a pole-mounted transformer bushing to the line or to the secondary rack. It holds a small pin or spool insulator that keeps the energised lead clear of the tank, bracket and pole during normal service and switching.

Installation sequence

  1. Mount the pin on the transformer bracket or pole by bolt or clamp.
  2. Fit the pin / spool insulator onto the stud.
  3. Dress the transformer lead into the insulator groove.
  4. Maintain clearance from the tank and other phases.
  5. Secure the lead so it cannot swing into the structure.
