Where it is used

The double-arming bolt is a fully-threaded through-bolt for double-arm construction, where a crossarm is mounted on each side of the pole. Because it is threaded its whole length, nuts can be set anywhere along it to clamp both arms and any intermediate hardware — and a single arm can be replaced without disturbing the other.

Installation sequence

  1. Select the thread and length for two arms plus the pole.
  2. Pass the bolt through both arms and the pole.
  3. Run a nut up to clamp the first arm.
  4. Set the intermediate and far nuts to clamp the second arm.
  5. Tighten all four square nuts; leave a few threads showing.

1. What a Double-Arming Bolt Is

A double-arming bolt is a long, fully-threaded through-bolt used when crossarms sit on both sides of the pole. The full-length thread lets you place nuts anywhere to clamp each arm independently — the defining feature that makes double-arm framing practical.

2. Why Full-Length Thread

Because the arms and the pole stack up at different points along the bolt, the nuts must seat at varying positions. Full threading gives that freedom and lets a crew replace one crossarm without removing the bolt or the other arm.

The bolt ships with four square nuts — typically one outside each arm and intermediate nuts to lock positions. Square nuts grip with a line wrench and free years later.
